This is one of the reasons why Wordsworth sees Nature as a refugee of the terror of the city life as he expresses in his poem London, 1802. Moreover after the death of his parents and the separation from his sister, Wordsworth started to have a feeling of loneliness that only disappeared when being in contact with nature as we can see in the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. This last feature leads to the personification of the elements of nature just to give them some human characteristics in order that they can make the function of being part of his world. He also shows as in many poems, which are based on his own experiences that nature can never betray us and that it can only bring out the best of our souls. Furthermore Wordsworth tells us that even in the worst moments you can find comfort just remembering some past experiences with nature or just viewing the sublime natural landscape.
Moreover with the examples of The Prelude and Tintern Abbey we have observed the evolution that Wordsworth’s idea of Nature has been maturing together with his mind. He have observed how as a child he feels passion for nature and interacts with it in a more physical way, whereas when becoming older he feels it more psychological way affected by some disillusions occurred in his life related to the French revolution and the industrialization of the society. He have seen in the poem Tintern Abbey how he even had at some point of his life some doubts about the benefits he can provide society and its transcendent powers.
In addition we have also observed how other contemporary poets like Coleridge influenced in his work, even producing a book both together, the Lyrical Ballads. Different points of view of the same concept, such as the idea of the sublime are also seen in a different way by Wordsworth and Shelley.
